Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Material
Handler to work
for one of our amazing client companies! T
he
ideal candidate will possess significant experience in handling steel, operating forklifts, and utilizing overhead cranes. This role requires a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move, load, and unload steel materials.
- Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety compliance.
- Accurately record material transactions and maintain inventory control.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining the warehouse for efficient material storage and retrieval.
- Follow safety protocols and company policies to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of the facility.
- Cross Train in other departments as determined by plant supervisors
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in material handling, particularly with steel.
- Proficiency in operating forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a high standard of work.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role within the steel industry.
- Certification in forklift and overhead crane operation.
