Position Overview
Crouch Staffing Solutions is seeking
experienced Structural Steel Fitters
for an established steel fabrication and manufacturing facility in McGregor, TX.
This is an excellent opportunity for skilled individuals with a strong background in structural steel fabrication, blueprint reading, and precision fitting. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience assembling structural steel components and ensuring accurate fit-up in preparation for welding.

Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret structural steel fabrication drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and assembly specifications.
- Measure, lay out, position, align, and fit structural steel components, including beams, columns, braces, plates, and stiffeners.
- Ensure proper alignment, squareness, dimensions, and fit-up of steel assemblies.
- Perform tack welding to secure components prior to final welding, as qualified and authorized.
- Utilize fabrication tools, including grinders, cutting equipment, magnetic drills, clamps, and precision measuring instruments.
- Operate overhead cranes, hoists, and material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
- Identify and correct fit-up issues, material discrepancies, and alignment problems.
- Collaborate with welders, quality control personnel, and production supervisors to meet production and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in structural steel fitting, fabrication, welding, or related metal manufacturing.
- Must be able to read and interpret structural steel fabrication drawings and blueprints.
- Proven experience fitting and assembling structural steel components.
- Strong measuring, layout, alignment, and basic math skills.
- Familiarity with welding symbols, fabrication tolerances, and steel connection details.
- Experience with tack welding, cutting, and grinding preferred.
- Overhead crane and forklift experience preferred.
- Welding certification or relevant technical training is a plus.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be able to pass required welding qualification testing.
- Ability to work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Work Schedule & Compensation
- Shift: 1st Shift, Monday–Friday
- Hours: 6:00 AM–2:00 PM
- Pay Rate: $24.00–$27.00/hour, depending on experience
- Overtime: May be available or required, including occasional weekends
- Employment Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire
