Quality Assurance Technician
Location: Dyersville, IA
1st Shift, 6am to 4:30pm, Monday-Thurday
Wage: $20/hour
Job Summary:
A local Dyersville employer is seeking a reliable and self-motivated Quality Assurance professional with strong attendance and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong safety mindset, excellent communication skills, and a high level of attention to detail, along with accurate record-keeping and organizational abilities. This role requires compliance with company and customer standards, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and basic math skills. The candidate must be adaptable, able to work efficiently under time constraints, and flexible to adjust to changing work demands, including a schedule of four 10-hour shifts with occasional overtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect incoming materials, in-process components, and finished die cast parts using measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMMs).
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAIs), in-process audits, and final inspections according to control plans and blueprints.
- Document and report non-conformances, assist in root cause analysis, and support corrective/preventive actions.
- Review and maintain records for PPAP submissions, control plans, and quality documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes.
- Calibrate and maintain inspection equipment and tools.
- Participate in internal audits and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Train operators and production personnel on quality procedures as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in quality assurance in a manufacturing or die casting environment preferred.
- The ability to read prints and understand specifications provided by the customers is required.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 standards, GD&T, and PPAP documentation.
- Strong understanding of dimensional inspection tools and techniques.
- Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs; stand, lift and inspect parts for extended periods.
