The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) supports the daily clinical operations of a busy Family Practice by providing high
‑
quality patient care, assisting providers, and ensuring efficient
clinic
workflow. This role involves both administrative and clinical responsibilities, requiring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a patient
‑
centered approach.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for patient visits
- Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical history, and reason for visit
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments
- Perform point ‑ of ‑ care testing (strep, flu, urinalysis, glucose, etc.)
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the provider
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure a clean, safe clinical environment
- Provide patient education on medications, treatments, and follow ‑ up care
- Assist with Administrative duties as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA ) credential required (AAMA, AMT, or equivalent)
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited MA program
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Previous experience in a Family Practice or primary care setting preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Proficiency with EHR systems and basic computer applications
