Sedona Staffing is seeking a
Medical Office Specialist
to join a busy medical practice
in
Davenport, IA
.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for submitting insurance claims, managing claim follow-up, resolving denials, and ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement.
Responsibilities
- Provide general front office support, including greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing check ‑ in/check ‑ out procedures
- Maintain organized patient records and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR system
- Assist with daily administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, data entry, and handling incoming/outgoing correspondence
- Support billing functions, including submitting and processing insurance claims (billing experience preferred)
- Follow up with insurance companies on unpaid or rejected claims and assist with correcting and resubmitting denied claims
- Post insurance payments, patient payments, and adjustments accurately
- Communicate with insurance carriers and patients regarding billing questions, claim status, and required documentation
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and medical billing regulations
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior medical billing experience preferred
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD ‑ 10, and basic medical terminology a plus
- Strong administrative and front office skills, with the ability to support providers and clinical staff
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and EMR systems
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and adapt to a fast ‑ paced medical environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Positive, professional, and patient ‑ focused demeanor
