Industrial Maintenance Technician – Mechanical
Location: Waco, TX
Crouch Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician for a growing manufacturing operation in the Waco area. This position will focus primarily on the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and upkeep of mechanical production equipment.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with industrial machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, conveyors, overhead lifting equipment, and mechanical power-transmission components. This individual must be comfortable responding to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing problems, completing repairs, and working with production personnel to minimize downtime.
Primary Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and maintain industrial production machinery and mechanical systems.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce production interruptions.
- Diagnose mechanical issues involving hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, crane, and material-handling systems.
- Maintain mechanical power-transmission components, including bearings, gearboxes, shafts, couplings, chains, belts, sprockets, pulleys, rollers, and drive assemblies.
- Service hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, including pumps, cylinders, motors, valves, manifolds, compressors, regulators, filters, and actuators.
- Respond promptly to equipment failures and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble production equipment and related components.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, hydraulic diagrams, and pneumatic schematics.
- Fabricate or modify brackets, guards, supports, and replacement parts when necessary.
- Assist with the installation, relocation, startup, and testing of new or existing equipment.
- Maintain facility-support systems such as ventilation, dust collection, lubrication, cooling, compressed air, and industrial piping.
- Communicate equipment conditions, repair status, and maintenance concerns to supervisors and production personnel.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements.
- Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, or a related field is preferred.
- Five or more years of industrial maintenance experience is preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, heavy equipment, automation, or a similar industrial environment is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, crane, and rotating equipment.
- Experience with CNC machinery, automated production equipment, robotics, fabrication machinery, or heavy manufacturing equipment is a plus.
- Ability to independently diagnose and repair equipment during breakdowns and production emergencies.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Dependable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to adapt to changing production priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with maintenance, operations, and engineering personnel.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work from elevated platforms.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently.
- Ability to work around moving machinery and in confined areas while following established safety procedures.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination necessary to operate tools and handle equipment components.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toe footwear, fall protection, and respiratory protection when applicable.
Schedule
- Evening Shift: Monday through Friday, approximately 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 am 0r 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Extended hours, overtime, or occasional weekend work may be required depending on production and maintenance needs.
