Seeking a temporary IT Network Administrator to support day-to-day hardware setup and basic connectivity tasks. This role will focus on setting up computers and related equipment, ensuring systems are connected properly, and providing basic troubleshooting assistance to keep employees and production operations running smoothly. This is a hands-on, technical support role ideal for someone comfortable working with physical hardware in an active manufacturing environment.
Job Duties / Responsibilities:
- Set up and configure desktop computers, laptops, monitors, printers, and related peripherals.
- Unbox, label, and prepare new equipment for deployment.
- Install basic software packages and verify systems are ready for end-users.
- Connect devices to the network, ensuring proper cabling, port setup, and device recognition.
- Assist with basic connectivity issues, including Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and phone/VoIP devices.
- Confirm that systems communicate correctly with servers and other network resources.
- Perform basic hardware and software troubleshooting, such as login issues, peripheral failures, and connectivity problems.
- Replace or reconnect cables, peripherals, or hardware components as needed.
- Escalate more complex technical issues to senior IT staff.
- Maintain an organized work area for staging, preparing, and configuring hardware.
- Document completed setups, configurations, and any issues encountered.
- Support IT team members with additional hands-on hardware tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with computer hardware setup, installation, and basic troubleshooting.
- Understanding of fundamental networking concepts (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, IP addressing).
- Ability to follow technical instructions, checklists, and standard IT procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Previous experience in IT support or as a hardware technician (preferred).
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems and standard office software.
- Ability to identify, trace, and manage network cables, ports, and connectivity points.
- Ability to lift or move computer equipment (up to approximately 40lbs) and work occasionally in production or shop-floor areas.
