Location: Green County, WI
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1st shift (flexible within standard business hours)
Salary: Starting at 55K, may go up to 70K depending on experience
Description:
A local employer Green County WI employer is seeking a Food Technologist to support our research and development team by assisting with formulation, food safety programs, product testing, and regulatory documentation. This role plays a key part in helping bring new products to market while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and compliance. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to manage technical tasks related to ingredient functionality, labeling, and product evaluation. This position helps streamline development processes and ensures new product launches meet regulatory and customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct sensory evaluations to support product development and monitor shelf-life performance
- Assist with food safety assessments and ensure adherence to HACCP and internal quality standards
- Review and evaluate ingredients and raw materials for functionality, safety, and regulatory compliance
- Develop and maintain Nutrition Facts Panels and ingredient declarations in accordance with FDA labeling requirements
- Coordinate shelf-life testing and product validation studies, including microbiological and stability evaluations
- Perform routine sensory checks of incoming materials and finished products to ensure consistency and quality
- Provide insight into flavor, texture, and product performance during formulation trials
- Respond to technical questions from suppliers and customers regarding product quality and safety
- Support troubleshooting of product formulations and assist with scaling new products from development to full production
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Dairy Science, Nutrition, Microbiology, Food Engineering, or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience in food manufacturing, product development, or R&D (experience in dairy or refrigerated foods preferred)
- Working knowledge of food safety systems, shelf-life testing, and regulatory labeling standards
- Experience using Genesis or similar nutrition analysis software preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with FDA labeling regulations (21 CFR 101) is a plus
- Experience with sensory evaluation methods preferred
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Frequent computer use and desk work
