Job Description:
The Crate Washer is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and preparing reusable crates used in the handling and transportation of dairy products. The position ensures all dairy products meet Prairie Farms’ cleanliness and food-safety standards before being shipped and that all crates are returned to production in an efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor crate-washing and sanitizing equipment.
- Load and unload crates from the washing system.
- Inspect crates for cleanliness, damage, and proper condition.
- Remove damaged or unusable crates from service.
- Follow food-safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Report equipment problems or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Assist with other production and sanitation duties as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Previous experience in food production, sanitation, manufacturing, or equipment operation is preferred but not required.
