Material Handler/ Overhead Crane Operator (2nd Shift)
Location: Hewitt, TX area
Job Type: Full-time
Pay/Salary: $22.00-$24.00/hr DOE per hour DOE
Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM + OT as needed
Job Description:
The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in handling steel, operating forklifts, and utilizing overhead cranes. This role requires a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move, load, and unload steel materials
- Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety compliance
- Accurately record material transactions and maintain inventory control
- Assist in organizing and maintaining the warehouse for efficient material storage and retrieval
- Follow safety protocols and company policies to prevent accidents and injuries
- Work collaboratively with team members and other departments to meet production goals and deadlines
- Willingness to cross-train, learn new skills and assist other departments as requested by Allied Steel Supervisors and Leads
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in material handling, particularly with steel.
- Proficiency in operating forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a high standard of work.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a non-climate-controlled work environment
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Forklift and overhead crane certifications are strongly preferred
