Position Summary
The Controller participates in financial activities of an organization by performing the following duties personally or through other finance department staff. The Controller must be highly organized and able to meet multitasking demands. Must be able to effectively work in a team environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Maintains financial records including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, investments, accruals and staff payroll. Works with accounts payable and accounts receivable staff to insure proper accounting methods.
- Works closely with CFO to structure transactions to facilitate appropriate business decisions.
- Orchestrates month end close cycle including reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
- Prepares and disseminates consolidated financial statements to managers.
- Develops common practices and processes within the department.
- Prepare reports, which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
- Assist in compilation of exhibits in preparation for annual external review audit.
- Monitor cash operating cash flow.
- Reviews and maintains interfaces of platforms with the general ledger. Performs weekly review of Deltek Costpoint payroll and billing reconciliation to the general ledger.
- Prepares and distributes weekly report of activity by office for executive review (weekly dashboard).
- Maintains state tax compliance and follows up with state tax correspondence.
- Provides input into corporate accounting policies.
Supervisory Controls
Works under the supervision with daily direction from Chief Financial Officer or
designee
. Exercises limited discretion within established procedures and guidelines and refers decisions outside defined parameters to the Chief Financial Officer or
designee

Required Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university AND Seven (7) years of related experience or training
OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare business correspondence and present information to top management, customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
- Ability to interact professionally with individuals in person, electronically, and by phone.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic proficiency with computers, including word processing, data entry, and Microsoft 365.
- Ability to perform general accounting functions in accounting software, i.e. Microsoft Great Plains, Deltek CostPoint , or similar.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
