We, Sedona Staffing Moline as the employer, are recruiting for a Certified Medical Assistant position at a local medical facility.
Responsibilities:
- Initial patient assessment involving checking patient’s vital signs, measuring height and weight, and obtaining the patient’s medical history including medical conditions, medications and allergies. Record findings into the patient chart and alert provider of the results.
- Assist patients with mobility, removal of clothing covering afflicted parts and activities of daily living that include hygiene and toileting.
- Perform tests and follow protocols that explain in detail how each test is to be performed.
- Measure patent vital signs (blood pressure, height, and weight).
- Perform in-office lab tests.
- Perform specialized testing such as breath tests.
- Schedule patient appointments.
- Schedule diagnostic procedures such as CT scans and MRIs.
- Promptly answer phones with a smile, and communicate with patients in a courteous manner, using recommended verbiage to take messages and make appointments.
- Make return appointment for the patient if needed or enter recall into the practice management system.
- Complete checklists as assigned and participate in department huddles to ensure that every single day flows smoothly.
- Prepare patients for testing, treatment, and procedures that the provider may perform. Expose affected areas by removing clothing.
- Filing, answering phones and scheduling appointments. Greet patients and obtain personal information such as address and insurance information. Compile patient charts and keep office organized.
- Responsible for assuring patient files are complete and intact before and after each visit. Pertinent information like test results, patient history and medication list should be reviewed and corrected if necessary and ensure the provider is aware of the available information.
- Call or fax prescriptions to pharmacies.
- Prior authorizations on medications.
- Clean and maintain instruments and medical equipment.
- Collect data about previous health, medical and surgical history from patients.
- Document electronic medical record.
- Manage medical records.
- Manage specialty referrals.
- Maintain patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance.
Requirements:
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certified Medical Assistant.
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- Experience in a professional environment with direct patient contact preferred.
- Basic Knowledge of Medical Terminology (ICD-10/CPT).
- Basic Knowledge of Electronic medical records.
- Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent positive attitude and customer service skills.
- Professionalism and integrity in all aspects of the job, including image and both verbal and written communication skills.
