Location:  Des Moines, IA (On site - Hybrid)
Job Type:  Full-Time | Direct Hire


A rapidly growing, Iowa based company in the Des Moines area is seeking an experienced  Controlle r to lead and scale its accounting and financial reporting functions. This is a highly visible, hands on leadership role responsible for both executing day-to-day accounting operations and building the financial infrastructure needed to support a capital intensive, high growth business.
You’ll work directly with the CEO and executive team while leading a team of two accounting professionals. This is an opportunity to step into a role where you can influence strategy, build processes, and drive meaningful organizational impact.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and fixed assets
  • Own month end, quarter end, and year end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare and deliver financial statements and internal management reporting
  • Oversee cost accounting, including infrastructure, energy usage, and equipment depreciation
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures for compliance and scalability
  • Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and financing in a capital-intensive environment
  • Evaluate and implement accounting systems and process improvements
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting team


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
  • Experience in manufacturing, energy, or other asset heavy industries preferred
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and internal controls
  • Experience with ERP systems, QuickBooks, and advanced Excel skills
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership capabilities


Compensation & Benefit s
  • Base Salary: $140,000 – $180,000 (DOE)
