Responsibilities:
Maintenance Technician
has the following responsibilities and duties:
- Perform general repairs involving plumbing, basic electrical systems, HVAC support, carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, doors, locks, fixtures, and furnishings within authorized training and qualifications. Refer work requiring specialized credentials or expertise to qualified contractors.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance, including filter and belt checks, lubrication, seasonal preparation, and equipment inspections; maintain accurate service records.
- Troubleshoot problems and prioritize work orders based on immediate safety risks, service interruptions, and operational needs. Communicate repair status and promptly escalate unresolved or urgent concerns.
- Conduct facility rounds to identify hazards, leaks, damage, security concerns, and repair needs. Document findings, report unsafe conditions, and take authorized steps to protect affected areas.
- Support life-safety readiness through assigned emergency lighting and exit-sign checks, visual fire-extinguisher inspections, and maintenance documentation. Coordinate required inspections and repairs with qualified vendors and leadership.
- Maintain grounds and exterior areas as assigned, including light landscaping, debris removal, snow and ice mitigation, and minor fence or gate repairs. Keep campus access routes clear and safe.
- Prepare rooms and common areas for use by moving furniture and equipment safely, completing minor refurbishments, and coordinating cleaning support and room readiness with staff.
- Coordinate and escort vendors or contractors as directed; communicate site safety and privacy requirements and help verify completion of authorized work.
- Track work orders, parts usage, supplies, and equipment needs . Drive company vehicles to collect supplies and transport maintenance materials as assigned. Maintain orderly workspaces and secure tools, keys, and chemicals from unauthorized access.
- Follow infection-prevention procedures, applicable safety requirements, manufacturer instructions, and campus emergency protocols. Use appropriate protective equipment and equipment-isolation procedures; secure work areas and minimize dust, noise, and interruptions.
- Maintain professional boundaries and protect confidential client information under facility policies and applicable privacy requirements. Report client-related safety concerns to designated clinical staff.
- Complete assigned safety and facility training and perform other related maintenance duties consistent with the position’s responsibilities and qualifications.
Requirements:
Maintenance Technician
should have the following skills, education, and experience:
- High school diploma or GED and at least two years of facility maintenance experience.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, and HVAC maintenance; ability to troubleshoot problems and recognize when specialized assistance is needed.
- Ability to use tools, ladders, and equipment safely; follow instructions; and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, communicate professionally, and maintain confidentiality and boundaries in a behavioral health setting.
- Valid driver’s license required because essential duties include driving company vehicles, collecting supplies, and transporting maintenance materials to support campus operations.
- Employment is subject to background checks and verification of applicable licenses and certifications, conducted and evaluated in accordance with applicable law.
