Job Summary
Crouch Staffing Solutions is seeking a
Buyer I
for a company located in
Waco, TX
. The Buyer I will support purchasing, procurement, inventory control, and material planning activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This position is responsible for assisting with the sourcing and purchasing of raw materials, fabricated components, production supplies, shop consumables, equipment, and operational services needed to support daily production and manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work closely with vendors, production teams, warehouse staff, inventory control, engineering, and management to ensure materials are ordered accurately, delivered on time, and maintained at appropriate inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Procurement
Create, process, and maintain purchase orders for raw materials, fabricated components, production supplies, shop consumables, equipment, and services.
Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, lead times, shipment schedules, order confirmations, shortages, and delivery discrepancies.
Assist with sourcing materials and evaluating alternative suppliers to support operational needs and cost-control initiatives.
Review material requisitions and verify purchasing information for accuracy, completeness, and proper approval.
Support purchasing activities related to steel, hardware, paint, consumables, fabrication supplies, safety products, and other production-related materials.
ERP / Inventory System Support
Use ERP, MRP, or inventory management systems to create, manage, and track purchase orders, material requirements, inventory transactions, and procurement activities.
Maintain accurate vendor information, item data, material codes, purchasing records, and system documentation.
Assist with resolving purchasing discrepancies, receiving issues, and inventory variances within the system.
Production & Manufacturing Support
Work closely with production scheduling, warehouse, inventory, and manufacturing teams to support material availability and operational priorities.
Assist with managing inventory levels to help minimize shortages, excess inventory, and production delays.
Monitor critical inventory items and communicate potential supply concerns to leadership.
Support rush orders, production priorities, and expedited shipments as needed.
Assist with resolving material-related issues that may impact production schedules or operational efficiency.
Help ensure purchased materials meet required quality standards and specifications.
Reporting & Administrative Support
Maintain accurate purchasing records, procurement files, vendor information, and system documentation.
Enter and maintain purchasing data within ERP, inventory, or purchasing systems.
Assist with inventory audits, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation as needed.
Prepare reports related to purchasing activity, inventory levels, open orders, and supplier performance.
Support process improvement initiatives related to purchasing, inventory management, and operational efficiency.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory control, or manufacturing support experience preferred.
Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, structural steel, industrial, or production environments preferred.
Experience using ERP, MRP, or inventory management systems required.
Experience with
Strumis
ERP software is a strong plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Understanding of purchasing, procurement, inventory management, and supply chain operations.
Knowledge of manufacturing materials, shop supplies, and production support processes preferred.
Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple purchasing tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in purchasing documentation and data entry.
Effective communication and vendor relationship management skills.
Ability to analyze purchasing issues and assist with problem resolution.
Ability to work collaboratively with production, warehouse, engineering, and operational teams.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and professionalism.
Work Environment
Office environment within a manufacturing and production setting.
Frequent interaction with production, warehouse, and operational teams.
Occasional exposure to manufacturing floor conditions, including noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout office and manufacturing environments as needed.
Ability to occasionally lift or carry office materials, samples, or supplies up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
