Sedona Staffing is seeking a Medical Assistant for
a local
medical practice in Moline, IL. The Certified Medical Assistant will support the delivery of pediatric primary health care and patient care management. This individual will provide clinical assistance to physicians in accordance with established standards, practices, and protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform general nursing care, including obtaining patient history, vital signs, and administering prescribed vaccines in accordance with accepted nursing standards.
- Assist with preparation and restocking of equipment and supplies needed for procedures.
- Follow standard precautions in the clinical setting and dispose of biohazardous waste appropriately.
- Assist physicians and nurses during patient examinations, treatments, and testing.
- Screen incoming telephone calls and route appropriately to a nurse or physician.
- Greet patients, prepare them for examination , and accurately gather and record patient history.
- Instruct patients on sample and test collection and maintain timely patient flow.
- Accurately record physician orders, vitals, tests, vaccines, and examination results in patient charts.
- Order, prepare, and maintain supplies and equipment, including sterilization.
- Assist with scheduling tests and treatments under the direction of an LPN, RN, or physician.
- Maintain patient files, records, and other clinical and office documentation.
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
- Provide training to other Medical Assistants as needed.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Cross ‑ train as a Patient Representative.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Conduct lab quality controls within COLA standards.
- Perform laboratory testing, accurately enter results, and troubleshoot lab procedures as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 1+ years of medical office experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical practice and pediatric patient care procedures.
- Understanding of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures, including vaccine administration.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to ensure a safe work environment.
- Skill in using medical equipment for examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and enter test results into an electronic medical record system.
