MAINTENANCE TECHNCIAN

HOURS: 730AM – 4PM M-F

LOCATION: FARLEY/DYERSVILLE AREA

WAGE: $32-$38/HOUR

Job Summary:

The Food Packaging Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of packaging equipment in a food production facility. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing machines used in the packaging process to support efficient and safe operations while complying with food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on packaging machinery including fillers, sealers, conveyors, labelers, wrappers, and case packers.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues and minimize downtime.
  • Install and test new or upgraded packaging equipment and components.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure equipment meets performance and food safety standards (e.g. HACCP, GMP).
  • Ensure tools and spare parts are available and organized.
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical diploma or certification in industrial maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or packaging environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in reading mechanical/electrical schematics and technical manuals.
  • Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), sensors, and motor controls is a plus.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitary design principles.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in cold, hot, or humid environments.
  • Stand, bend, and move for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
