PLC Programmer (Programmable Logic Controller Programmer)

Wage: Starting at $37.23/hour + full benefits package
Shift: Days: Thursday–Saturday, every other Wednesday
Sedona, a professional recruitment firm, is partnering with a leading manufacturing facility in Salina, Kansas to hire a skilled PLC Programmer. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical control systems and equipment. This is a direct hire, meaning the right fit candidate would go directly onto the hiring company's payroll and be eligible for their benefits package and relocation assistance available.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control systems including PLCs, VFDs, motor starters, and I/O systems
- Program, debug, and support factory automation systems (PLC, HMI, robotics, machine vision, etc.)
- Perform PID loop tuning and optimize system performance
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce downtime and increase efficiency
- Support installation, upgrades, and optimization of plant automation systems
- Maintain and update control system documentation and program backups
- Provide hardware and software support for automation networks and systems
- Develop and implement automation improvements and modernization projects
- Utilize Work Order systems and other software tools to track maintenance activities
- Run conduit and pull wire for power distribution and controls integration
- Participate in plant shutdowns and maintenance projects as needed
- Ensure compliance with safety standards including Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, TPS)
Requirements:
- Associate degree in Industrial Electronics, Controls, or related field OR 2+ years of industrial electrical/controls experience
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLC systems and ladder logic preferred
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical systems ranging from 480V three-phase to low-voltage DC systems
- Experience with HMI, VFDs, robotics, and automation systems
- Familiarity with SQL data collection and reporting platforms preferred
- Proficiency with electrical testing equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.)
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and PLC programming software
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documents
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, and walking
