MATERIAL PLANNER
LOCATION: RALEIGH NC
WAGE: $20.67/HOUR
TEMPORARY: MAY OR MAY NOT TURN PERM
Position Summary
The Material Planner is responsible for ensuring the timely availability of materials and components needed to support production schedules. This position works closely with suppliers, purchasing, production, engineering, and other internal teams to manage material requirements, release and track purchase orders, resolve supply issues, and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Review material requirements, production schedules, and inventory levels to determine meet needs.
- Create, release, and maintain purchase orders based on production requirements and planning parameters.
- Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to confirm quantities, pricing, delivery dates, and product availability.
- Communicate regularly with suppliers regarding new orders, order changes, late deliveries, shortages, quality concerns, and other material-related issues.
- Track supplier commitments and proactively identify potential material shortages or production disruptions.
- Coordinate with suppliers to expedite materials when necessary to support production schedules.
- Maintain accurate purchase order and supplier information within the company's ERP/MRP system.
- Work with Purchasing and Supply Chain teams to resolve discrepancies involving purchase orders, receipts, invoices, quantities, and delivery dates.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Operations to understand changing material requirements and communicate impacts to suppliers.
- Communicate changes in demand, forecasts, engineering changes, and production requirements to affected suppliers.
- Maintain accurate planning records, reports, and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to material planning, purchasing, supplier performance, and inventory management.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support company production and supply chain objectives.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in material planning, purchasing, procurement, production control, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience creating, releasing, monitoring, and maintaining purchase orders.
- Strong supplier communication and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to analyze inventory, demand, lead times, and production requirements.
- Experience working with an ERP/MRP system.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple orders, suppliers, and changing production requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
