About the Opportunity
Crouch Staffing is partnering with a well-established fabrication and manufacturing company in the Hewitt, Texas area to recruit an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist.
This organization operates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is committed to maintaining a safe, compliant, and highly organized workplace. They are seeking a safety-focused professional who can lead environmental and safety initiatives while supporting production and continuous improvement efforts.
Position Overview
The EHS Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role plays a key part in protecting employees, minimizing risk, and promoting a proactive culture of safety throughout the facility.
This position works closely with leadership, production teams, maintenance, and HR to ensure environmental compliance and workplace safety standards are fully integrated into daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage site-wide safety programs specific to steel fabrication operations
- Conduct safety orientations and ongoing training (welding, crane, forklift, PPE, etc.)
- Perform job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and internal safety audits
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and applicable regulatory requirements
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; determine root cause and implement corrective actions
- Assist in managing workers’ compensation claims in coordination with HR
- Maintain emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and coordinate drills
- Lead safety committee meetings and promote employee engagement in safety initiatives
- Oversee environmental compliance programs including:
- Hazardous material handling
- Waste management
- Welding byproduct control
- Air, water, and waste permit tracking
- Ensure timely environmental reporting and support regulatory inspections
- Collaborate with production leadership to integrate safety into SOPs and 5S/lean initiatives
- Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency projects
- Maintain and improve procedures related to:
- Lockout/Tagout
- Confined space entry
- Equipment operation safety
- Maintain required PPE compliance
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of progressive EHS experience
- At least 3 years in fabrication, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments strongly preferred
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred
- An associate’s degree with relevant manufacturing safety experience considered
Certifications (Preferred or Willingness to Obtain)
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry
- OSHA Train-the-Trainer
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ASP
- HAZWOPER
- Welding safety certifications
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations (including welding standards)
- Familiarity with EPA and Texas environmental regulations (TCEQ compliance experience a plus)
- Experience in 5S or lean manufacturing environments preferred
- Experience supporting fabrication processes including welding, cutting, and material handling
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to conduct training for diverse teams (welders, machine operators, supervisors, etc.)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with EHS tracking systems/software
- Ability to analyze safety metrics and prepare reports
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- Self-motivated, dependable, and team-oriented
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and move throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Ability to work in a fabrication environment with exposure to noise, temperature changes, and industrial conditions
- Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hard hats, and steel-toed boots

Monday – Friday
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
