Crouch Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced Buyer/Procurement Specialist for an established manufacturing client.  This role will support the purchasing and strategic sourcing of production steel, fabricated components, MRO supplies, equipment, services, logistics, tooling, and other materials needed to keep manufacturing operations running efficiently. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on purchasing experience with strong supplier management, analytical, and negotiation skills.

KEY REQUIREMENTS - PLEASE REVIEW BEFORE APPLYING
  • Experience:  3-5 years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Steel / Fabrication Knowledge:  Hands-on experience purchasing or sourcing steel products such as plate, sheet, tube, structural steel, and/or fabricated components.
  • Supplier Experience:  Experience working with steel suppliers, service centers, fabrication vendors, or other manufacturing suppliers.
  • Education:  Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
  • Systems:  Proficiency with ERP or procurement systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, Coupa, or similar platforms.
  • Core Skills:  Strong analytical, cost-comparison, supplier-management, communication, and negotiation skills.
Preferred:  APICS, CPSM, CSCP, or similar professional certification, or progress toward certification.

What You Will Do

  • Purchase and source production steel, fabricated components, MRO items, capital equipment, services, logistics, tooling, and other indirect materials.
  • Request and evaluate supplier quotations; support RFQ/RFP processes, bid comparisons, supplier recommendations, and sourcing decisions.
  • Create, issue, and manage purchase orders while monitoring confirmations, pricing, lead times, delivery dates, and order changes.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, freight, and other commercial conditions in coordination with sourcing leadership.
  • Monitor steel and fabrication market conditions, including raw material pricing, availability, lead times, and supplier capacity.
  • Identify, evaluate, and assist with onboarding new suppliers and alternate sources of supply.
  • Manage supplier performance and resolve issues involving cost, delivery, capacity, quality, invoices, and payment discrepancies.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, supply chain, production, and finance to align purchasing activity with technical requirements and production schedules.
  • Support cost-reduction and total-cost-of-ownership initiatives through price analysis, cost comparisons, spend analysis, and basic should-cost reviews.
  • Track procurement KPIs including savings, supplier performance, on-time delivery, purchase-order accuracy, and contract compliance.
  • Support supply-continuity and risk-mitigation efforts, including secondary sourcing and supplier-risk evaluation.
  • Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, purchasing, and procurement records within the ERP system.
  • Assist with invoice and payment issue resolution for assigned suppliers and categories.
  • Travel occasionally, approximately 10%.
