Helpful Hint

Microsoft Word 2000 has resume templates that format your resume for you. All you need to do is overwrite the text with your personal resume information.

Resume Information

The resume is often one of the most overlooked tools by many applicants. The resume is very often one of the key deciding factors when choosing a candidate for a particular job.

Also, many resumes are often too long, too difficult to read, and many times not formatted properly. This means the applicant's resume is viewed as being unprofessional and therefore eliminates the applicant from the group of possible candidates.

A great resume is not hard to produce, and Sedona Staffing is the place to get the tips. We can help you produce a great professional and attractive resume, which will help you stand out among the rest and get the attention you deserve!

The Good Resume

"The Good Resume" is easily recognizable, and will allow you to realize how other resumes pale in comparison.

Sedona Staffing realizes having a professional, well thought out resume is a definite plus in terms of getting a job. This will be your key to obtaining the right position and salary. Using the proper wording and organizational format will allow various companies to visualize your strengths and pertinent experiences and see how they all contribute to your overall expertise.

Members of Sedona Staffing share what they look for in a resume...

  • "When looking at a resume, I look for a professional and precise layout that communicates to me. Keep your resume professional, and don't try to "reinvent the wheel." Have someone proof it for you! Errors are unacceptable."

  • "Of course, a professional layout is the first thing I look for, but I also look to see that the resume has a detailed description of job responsibilities for each of the applicant's previous jobs."

  • "Format is extremely important to me when I look at a resume. I need to be able to pull the information I need from the resume very quickly. Precise spelling and grammar is a must."

When writing your resume...

Know your audience and review your resume to make sure it is tailor-made to fit your audience. The objective should always match the position you are applying for within the company. Be clear and precise and show the logical progression of your career path. One page is always better if possible, and be sure to include your name and phone number at the top.

Keys for a great resume

  • Make sure your resume is organized and professional.
  • Spelling and grammar are critical in establishing the credibility of your resume. Proofread and spell check your resume.
  • Use simple, easy-to-read fonts when composing a resume.
  • Print your resume on WHITE STANDARD PAPER.
  • Keep your resume to less than ONE PAGE in length. It's always a good idea to have references available upon request.
  • Do not sell yourself short! Make sure you include all awards, extra-curricular activities and volunteer work you may have done.
  • If you have had previous jobs, make sure that you account for all the time between your first job and your most recent one, even if you were unemployed.

Send your resume via E-mail

Sending your resume to us via e-mail is often the quickest way to get your resume to a recruiter. However, there are a few actions you can take to make sure a recruiter actually reads the resume:

  1. Make certain your resume is in .doc (Microsoft Word) OR .txt format.
  2. Name your attachment "resume." This will ensure that your attachment is not arbitrarily deleted.

You can send us your resume through e-mail to: hr@sedonastaffing.com
